He is standing upright and is blessing with His right hand while holds a closed scroll with His left hand. Both the figure of the Virgin Mary and the figure of Jesus are wearing a halo. The expression in their Divine faces is serene and peaceful. The icon draws inspiration from a certain hagiographic type of the Virgin Mary that refers to the Cretan school of Theophanis, in which other shapes and elements are being isolated and she is presented in upright position.
