Saint Spyridon
The protector of the poor, father of the orphans, teacher of the sinners. Saint Spyridon was born in 270 A.D. in Cyprus to a wealthy family of shepherds; an occupation he also followed despite his education. Simple, gentle, full of love for his neighbor, he was married and had a daughter named Irene. When his wife died he devoted himself to the teaching of the word of God. He was ordained Priest and from this position, with virtue and faith, he performed several miracles.
