Saints Kyprianos and Justina
Saint Kyprianos lived during the reign of emperor Dekios (249-251 A.D.) named by the Christians "the cruel tyrant" because of the violent persecutions he proclaimed with a decree in 250 A.D. Saint Kyprianos was a famous magician who was initiated in mystic practices. However the faith of a Christian Virgin Mary, Justa who did not succumb to his magic, made him realize that all the tricks of the world were not possible to bend someone if he is guided by the virtue of Christ. This fact led him not only to burn his books but also to be baptized Christian. Because of his knowledge and his character integrity he managed to ascent in high hieratical ranking and became Bishop of Carthage having by his side Justa whom he ordained to deaconess under the name Justina. By the order of Dekios he was exiled at Antioch, imprisoned and finally decapitated together with Justina. Their relics are housed in Rome.
