He is one of the most popular saints in the Greek Church. The icon of Saint Fanourios was revealed in Rhodes, by chance, by a stranger in the 14th century A.D. The icon was found among others under the ruins of a temple. In this icon Saint Fanourios is depicted as a young man dressed military, holding a Cross and a lit candle.
