Saint Igor
Saint Igor was Prince of Kiev for a short period in the 12th century when battles were occurring over the hegemony of the city; he was arrested by the aristocracy and sent to exile, at the Orthodox monastery of Theodorov where he followed the monasticism and spent his life praying. The Governors of Kiev fearing of his return turned the people against him. During the Divine Service, the mob dragged him out of the church and hanged him. He is celebrated together with the Icon of the Mother of God in front of which he was praying just before he was murdered. He was honored as martyr along with the icon.
