Saint Savvas

Saint Savvas from Cappadocia from a very early age devoted himself to monastic life with maturity and with the gift of making miracles. At the age of 18 he lived in Jerusalem and from there in the desert of Anatoli, in the convent of Osios Theoktistos. His serious character, his unwavering nature and the gift of working miracles that God had honored him with, made him a venerable holy person who served the poor and weak throughout his life. He passed away in 534 A.D. His body, 50 years later was intact and was preserved at his Monastery, later was transferred to Constantinople, then was transferred to Venice and in 1965 A.D by the initiative of Patriarch Venedictos, it was returned to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Part of his holy relics is housed in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi. His memory is celebrated on December 5.
