The original work of the icon of Saint Stephanos is housed at the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephanos in Meteora (14th-15t century).

Saint Stephanos was one of the most distinguished deacons; he had strong faith and the charisma of eloquence. He performed many miracles with the power of his Christian faith. He dedicated his life to the preaching of the Gospel and to philanthropy. Although he was stoned to death by the Jews he asked for their forgiveness to God.
