Saint Vera
Saint Pisti, the eldest daughter of Saint Sophia is mentioned in the Russian Church as Vera. She lived during the reign of Hadrian (117-138 AD) and martyred along with her sisters for her faith. . Being the child of a noble family she was nurtured under the principles of Christianity by her mother Sophia. Hadrian, in order to force her mother to renounce Christianity submitted the 12 year old Vera to horrible tortures, along with her sisters, Elpida and Agapi. She was the first of the three sisters who martyred and was finally killed by a sword, while many witnesses to her martyrdom believed in Christ.
