Saint Xeni

Saint Xeni discovered the word of God and lived in asceticism and offering since the age of 26, after the sudden death of her young husband Andrea Feodorovitch Petrov. Both were young and rich and lived a carefree, happy life. Saint Xeni, right after the death of her beloved husband stayed away for eight years from the mundane life of Saint Petersburg. When she returned to the city, she wore the clothes of her husband and presented herself as Andrea Feodorovitch and gave all their property to the poor and weak. She lived in rags eating only a piece of bread and gave even the charity of strangers to the poor. She pretended madness, the "Christ Madness" and devoted her life to the salvation of the Soul through prayers. She had the ability to predict the future and became known for her piety and her charisma throughout Russia. A large number of people gathered at her final farewell, when she died at the age of 71, in approximately 1806.
